BIO SKETCHES

Headshot of Alex Satz

Alex Satz (WuXi AppTec)

Alex Satz has 15+ years experience building and leading DNA encoded library (DEL) technology platforms, and is currently the senior director of DEL strategy and operations at WuXi AppTec. Prior to joining WuXi AppTec, Alex built and led the Roche DEL platform in Basel Switzerland and Nutley USA, and helped to develop the first industrial-scale DEL platform at Praecis Pharmaceuticals (later purchased by GlaxoSmithKline). Alex also worked as a medicinal chemist at AstraZeneca, was an NIH postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School, and earned his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of California Santa Barbara. In the field of DEL, Alex has authored 18 peer-reviewed articles and two book chapters.

Headshot of Xiaoyu Li

Xiaoyu Li (University of Hong Kong)

Dr Xiaoyu Li received his B.S. degree from Peking University and Ph.D. degree from the University of Chicago. After a postdoctoral training at Harvard University, he conducted research in several biotech firms. In 2009, he joined Peking University as Associate Professor and in 2015, Dr. Li joined The University of Hong Kong and currently is a Professor at Department of Chemistry. Dr. Li’s research focuses on DNA-encoded chemical library, protein labelling and profiling, and target identification.

Headshot of Jörg Scheuermann

Jörg Scheuermann (ETH Zürich)

Jörg Scheuermann studied Chemistry at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) and at the ETH Zurich (Switzerland). During his Ph.D. studies at the ETH Zurich he worked on the identification of novel binding molecules to markers of angiogenesis. Since 2002, together with Dario Neri, he developed DNA-encoded library technology in different implementations. He has published 62 peer-reviewed articles on DEL technology and wrote his habilitation on "DNA-Encoded Chemical Library Technology for Drug Discovery”. He is organizer of the “International Symposium on DNA-Encoded Chemical Libraries”, a yearly alternating event between ETH Zurich/Switzerland, Boston/US and China. He is Principal Investigator at ETH Zurich, heading a group of five PhD students and one Postdoc.

Headshot of Andreas Brunschweiger

Andreas Brunschweiger (Technische Universität Dortmund)

Andreas Brunschweiger studied Pharmacy at the University of Kiel (Germany), and obtained his PhD in the group of Prof. Christa Müller at the University of Bonn (Germany). Following postdoctoral research in the same group in collaboration with UCB Pharma, he joined Prof. Jonathan Hall's research group at the ETH Zurich (Switzerland), working on Chemical Biology tools to study microRNAs, and oligonucleotide-based microRNA inhibitors. His research interests as a group leader at TU Dortmund University (Germany) include computer-assisted tools for DNA-encoded library technology, DEL synthesis strategies, and assays for hit identification.
